Tanken 29" x 2.3" - All Mountain

IRC

The Tanken enduro tire is built for long downhill runs and windy single track. Just hop on and ride. The big knobby block tread provides traction in soft dirt and mud so you don’t have to worry about terrain. Carry more speed into the turns. Aggressive side blocks hook up when cornering and dare you to push harder. Lean in. Alternating rows of vertical and horizontal blocks gives lateral traction on off-camber surfaces. Grip the trail. The Tanken is made with a low rebound compound that absorbs bumps to keep you attached to the ground when the trail gets rough.

  • Low-Rebound high-grip Compound
  • 60TPI casing
  • Big Shoulders Hook Up When Cornering Hard
  • Alternating Rows of Vertical and Horizontal Blocks Gives Lateral Traction on Off-Camber Surfaces
  • Sidewall protection provides stiffness and exceptional durability

Decent for the money

Got a set for my Propain Tyee on sale at roughly $40/tire. Here's my thoughts after ~1 month of bike park and enduro riding in Colorado. My local trails are mostly rocks and dust-over-hardpack. Performance lacked in high speed bike park berms where the casing would start to fold. Can't fault too much for that as I'm running 23 psi with cush core inserts so the low pressure was a likely cause but compared to the Michelin Wild Enduro if felt less stout. Additionally, the rear tire got a puncture on a flat ~2ft rock drop between the center and corner knobbies. This drop has a smooth slickrock landing so it was disappointing to see that al it took was a harsh compression to spring a leak, again this is with cush core as well so doubly disappointing. The sidewalls on these tires seem to be tough as they deflected multiple sharp rock hits on climbs and descents.

Pros:
tough sidewall puncture protection
inexpensive
good tread pattern (similar to Specialized Butchers in feel)
doesn't seem to dry rot like Michelins do
consistent sidewall height unlike Maxxis's wobbly misshapen tires

Cons:
weak against harsh center-ish tread hits
inconsistent feel in hard cornering at high speed - might be a setup or skill issue

Attached image is the puncture.
These are my own opinions and do not reflect upon IRC in any way.

Amazing tires

I love these tires, so much grip and durability. They are bulletproof for sure, and definitely great tires for training all year long.

Excellent! I live in NorCal, they hook up so sweet in wet conditions and handled everything I threw at them! Rocks, roots, mud, etc. Well worth it!
