At IRC we are incredibly proud of our CX collection. Our engineers have done a fantastic job at creating this group of tires that perfom at the highest level in the harshest conditions. The SeracCX Edge is your perfect choice for fast grass and hard-pack courses (or for BWR San Diego). We have two intermediate choices. The Serac CX 32 is an excellent all-around tire and an old favorite of our pro riders. Our Boken Doublecross 33 gives up a little bit of straight-ahead traction compared to the Serac CX, but gains a faster-rolling tread and superior cornering and off-camber performance. Our latest addition is the Boken Slopchop. It is far and away the best mud tire we have ever produced.
In Cyclocross tire brands are judged by their mud tire and this was the one tire that was truly missing from the IRC lineup. The Serac CX is a fantastic all conditions tire (2 wins in RENO 2017) and the Serac Edge checks all the boxes for hardpack and grass courses. The new Slopchop tire builds on that proven platform. With tall paddles that bite and give great traction while pedaling and braking. The aggressive side knobs evokes confidence when you’ve got to nail that rut. The spacing between the knobs gives plenty of space to clear mud easily. In Cross confidence in the corners and off camber is critical. The sidewall casing and soft knobs conform to obstacles without folding underneath you, giving confidence even at low psi. At 2019 CX Nat I was running 18psi 155lb rider weight. —Jake Wells
I’ve ridden all the popular CX tires at one point or another and these are undeniably my favorite intermediate tire. They hook up great, feel fast in the dry and work well even into some pretty slick conditions. —Josh D. on SeracCX

Read on cxmagazine.comRiding bikes is about as dumb and futile an endeavor as many other hobbies, which is to say it's worthwhile and existentially gratifying in ways that are hard to explain. Bikes are simple machines that bring deep joy. They're a way to find clarity and peace, not to mention a great way to get around. Squid Bikes came into existence gradually, starting in the grassroots cyclocross community in Northern California. At some point a group of cyclocross miscreants started spray painting bikes in their garages, and it felt good and right. Squid Bikes is about that savory, eyebrow raising, chills down your spine good feeling when you create something and see the results. Paint your own bike, maintain your own trails, grow your community, and pass it on.
